Productions
As a producing major, I had the privilege to work on multiple short films both as a producer and unit production manager. These films were all student run, and the faculty at Dodge College of Film and Media Arts gave us full creative freedom as well as full responsibility for paperwork, permitting, rentals and safety procedures. In addition, learning to produce and run a film set under strict Covid-19 guidelines has allowed me to vastly grow my skills in logistics management, quick problem solving and team leadership.
Two Graves (2021)
A short film surrounding the aftermath of an Anti-Asian hate crime, and its effect on a father-son relationship.
This film was by far the most challenging undertaking I’ve been a part of in a Producer role. On top of my typical Producer responsibilities, this project was a SAG-AFTRA union shoot, which required strict scheduling and COVID-19 protocols. Producing this short film under these conditions pushed my scheduling, problem solving skill, and resourcefulness to another level. Due to crew size limitations, I also took on the roles of Location Manager and Unit Production Manager. These roles encompassed logistics, accounting, and set operations.
Crew size: 25
Budget: $25,000
Hunter (2019)
I worked as a Unit Production Manager on a junior student thesis film entitled Hunter. My responsibilities included assembling the budget, assisting in logistic concerns, handling catering and keeping track of receipts to be reimbursed. Although I was not creatively involved, it taught me about the organizational challenges of getting a production made.
Crew size: 35+
Budget: $9,000
Cherished (2018)
Cherished is a project I produced along with director, Carter Lau, my good friend and classmate. This was a smaller budget and crew, but was the first project I produced. The experience taught me a lot about getting comfortable with collaboration in a leadership role.
Crew size: 12
Budget: $500
